KEOS2K equation of state description

KEOS2K is a simple form of caloric semi-empirical equation of state (EOS) for structural materials with a complex physical and chemical compositions (polymers, plastics, composites and so on). In its general form the model specifies pressure as a function of the specific volume and internal energy. Currently equations of state of this type are constructed for 103 substances.

An analysis of experimental data for some compounds suggests occurrence of a physico-chemical transformation of the compound at the front of strong shock waves and is attended by a significant change in density (~20%) and compressibility of medium. Therefore the thermodynamic properties of such substances are described by separate equations of state for the material prior to (low pressure EOS) and after (high pressure EOS) transformation.
